About The Meadows
The Meadows sits between the city centre and the River Trent, just south of the railway station. It's a historic residential neighbourhood that was largely rebuilt in the twentieth century, and it has a strong, distinct community identity shaped by its riverside setting and its place in the city's sporting corridor.
The Victoria Embankment is the area's showpiece: a broad riverside park along the Trent with memorial gardens, lawns, a playground, and a continuous walking and cycling route that links the Meadows to West Bridgford and the city. It's one of the most popular outdoor spaces in Nottingham and the focus of major events.
The neighbourhood is also home to Notts County Football Club at Meadow Lane — the world's oldest professional football club — which, together with the nearby grounds across the river, makes this part of the city busy on matchdays. The tram runs through the Meadows, giving residents quick links to the city centre, the Queen's Medical Centre, the university, and Beeston.
