Best independent cafes in Nottingham worth knowing
An evergreen roundup of Nottingham's best independent coffee shops, from city-centre espresso bars to neighbourhood gems.
Nottingham's independent coffee scene is one of the best reasons to explore the city neighbourhood by neighbourhood. Over the last decade the chains have been steadily outnumbered by owner-run cafes, each with its own character, regulars, and approach to a cup of coffee — and most of them are walkable from one another.
In the city centre, Wired Cafe Bar on Pelham Street has long been a fixture for remote workers and meetups, while 200 Degrees on Flying Horse Walk — a Nottingham-founded roaster with its own barista school — brings dependable espresso into a bright, characterful space. For people who care about extraction and origin, Blend Coffee, the speciality roaster with sites across the city, is the serious destination.
Out in the neighbourhoods, the picture is just as strong: 200 Degrees on Central Avenue in West Bridgford, Greenhood Coffee on Beeston High Road, and The Crimson Tree on Sherwood's Mansfield Road all show that the suburban and quarter coffee scenes are every bit as vibrant as the centre's.
We've written this up in full as a blog feature, with more on each cafe and the neighbourhoods around them.
