Sherwood Pines (Cycling & Mountain Biking)

Nottinghamshire's largest forest with waymarked cycling and mountain-bike trails, a bike park and bike hire on the edge of Sherwood Forest.

Sherwood Pines is the largest forest open to the public in the county and a top destination for cycling and mountain biking, with five waymarked trails from a gentle 3-mile family loop to the fast 8-mile red-graded Kitchener's Trail, plus a dirt-jump and downhill bike park. There are also walking trails, a Go Ape high ropes course, a play area, cafe and on-site bike hire if you don't bring your own. It is a great outdoors day out for families, beginners and experienced riders, about 40 minutes from the city. Parking is paid; check trail status on the Forestry England site.
